Randi Rhodes is the #1 Progressive Talker in the country -- she was the first woman to have a nationally syndicated political talk show host. She's smart, she's funny, she's a badass.
Before getting into radio, Randi was an aircraft mechanic for the US Air Force, making her a patriot as well.
Randi often tells her listeners "don't listen to anything you hear on the radio, and that includes me", encouraging her listeners to think for themselves, read, and even goes so far as to assign homework.
You can hear Randi Rhodes live from 3-6pm Eastern time by going to Nova M Radio. I highly recommend her. (I also recommend Rachel Maddow who can be heard, occasionally on her own show on Air America Radio. And no discussion of the women of progressive radio can be complete without mentioning Stephanie Miller who is on in the mornings.)

Allow me to disagree. Being in the military does not qualify one as a patriot. Military service is a job - just like any other jobs. It deserves no more or less recognition than the job of a social worker, police officer, or someone working at McDonald's. In this case, Rhodes' former career has nothing to do with her patriotism.
Secondly, this woman is hardly a feminist. A feminist (and bad-ass) wouldn't be referring to another woman as a "big fucking whore," as Rhodes did a few months ago at an Obama event in San Francisco.
Being a woman and being successful does not make one a feminist or someone to look up to. Feminists are judged by their convictions, values and actions. If we're going to call McCain out for calling his wife a "cunt," we might as well get just as upset at Rhodes for calling Ms. Clinton a "big fucking whore."
