The American News Projects recently produced an extremely compelling piece entitled “Kids Having Babies.” (link via alternet )

The video centers around a midwife, Lisa Uncles, at the Developing Families Center in Washington, D.C.  and her views on teen pregnancy and sex education.  It also features her interactions during a checkup with Dajon, a 14 year-old pregnant teen.

When asked if she could describe one program that Congress could pass to tackle the issue of teen pregnancy what would it be like, Uncles replies:

“It would be a combination of education and open access to medical care....I feel like it needs to start in the home, and then continue in school, and then in continue in their health care. It’s gotta be everywhere..”  

I can’t say that there is a silver bullet to this issue, but if there were one, Uncles has described it.
