I am going to be honest. I can barely stomach a conversation with individuals that are blindingly pro-life. I can respect an individual’s choice not to choose an abortion for herself-that is the whole premise of the pro-choice argument. However, I cannot wrap my mind around the non-fucking-existent endorsement of contraception from the Peanut Gallery. The only way to prevent abortions is to prevent pregnancy. The only way to do that is to use contraception. No shit Sherlock’s.
So why is it that the anti-abortion movement refuses to accept this simple fact? Well, we all know the reasons, and the power and control struggle that revolves around controlling women’s bodies. And just when you thought reproductive rights might remain safe as Bush plays Cowboys and Indians with his last few months of office, think again. A new bill by the Department of Health and Human Services “is proposing to allow any federal grant recipient to obstruct a woman’s access to contraception.” It basically overrides 27 different state laws protecting women’s access to affordable and accessible contraception. Not to mention allowing space for any right wing nut to come and disseminate his or her bullshit. But don’t take my word for it. Read the article.

"The only way to prevent abortions is to prevent pregnancy. The only way to do that is to use contraception."
Of course, a lot of folks who are against contraception would disagree with you. They would argue I'm sure that the only way to prevent abortion is to prevent pregnancy, and the only way to definitively prevent pregnancy is to not have sex. That's the quick and obvious comeback.
And obviously on a technical level they're right. It's just that the vast vast majority of heterosexuals aren't willing to exclude penis-in-vagina sex from their sexual repertoire.
The really extreme folks would go on to argue that once you're married (and therefore allowed to have sex) you shouldn't be trying to prevent pregnancy anymore anyways, you should be having babies (because that's the purpose of marriage right? the babies?).
"I'm sure that the only way to prevent abortion is to prevent pregnancy, and the only way to definitively prevent pregnancy is to not have sex."
I'll go even further: the only way to prevent pregnancy, is to ensure sperm are nowhere near the vaginal canal, e.g., even mutual masturbation or outercourse is not "really" safe, and I have long been curious if live, viable sperm can be transferred penis-mouth-mouth-vagina and represent a pregnancy risk.
