Anti-choice bingo!
Inspired by anti-feminist bingo, and the rest of the bingo cards I found links to on The Curvature, and by some damn frustrating conversations with anti-choicers, I've made my own contribution to the growing stack of cards surfacing on the internet.

My special favourite has to be the 'rape victims can just get a c-section' one. Which is your favourite?

A C-section? What on earth was the justification behind that one?
My favorites, not on there but should be:
"It's just nine months!"
On rape: "Don't punish the child for the sins of the father."
Or: "If I got raped, I wouldn't abort."
"Abortion is unnatural!" (If we're going by nature, it should be perfectly legal to eat or abandon your children.)
"Protect the rights of unborn women!"
I love it! I want it on a shirt!
Damn, I wish I'd had one of these back in my talk.abortion days. All I had was (pointing proudly) my Talk.Abortion Drinking Game. A few samples:
Two drinks if a newbie's first posting consists entirely of the words "Abortion is murder!" Another drink for every three additional exclamation points.
One drink for every mention of the relative position of a woman's legs (i.e. "spread", "together", "open", etc.).
One drink for each suggestion that Planned Parenthood tries to persuade women to abort, to swell its own profits. Another drink for each response that PP is, in fact, a non-profit organization. (Chug for repeated accusations against PP in the face of this being pointed out.)
THREE drinks for each erroneous explanation of what the word _fetus_ "really means in Latin" (e.g. "small baby," "tiny person").
One drink EACH for any variant of "if the baby's head slipped out of the vagina it would be murder", "abortion five minutes before birth", "partial-birth infanticide", "jamming scissors in the back of the baby's head", "sucking brains", or "prom dress".
I'm confused on the whole c-section thing too. I've luckily never heard that one and I have no idea how it's supposed to make things better.
Bearing a child is a woman's purpose?! What?! It's what vaginas are for, NOT WOMEN!!! That is sooo horrible, i can't believe anyone would actually say that! And yeah, c-section thing like, totally confuses me! And abortion is worse than rape? A rape victim will remember it for the rest of her life, a half-developed baby barely capable of thought doesn't have to remeber anything when it is aborted, nor does it have much to remember. It's the same as putting an animal to sleep; let it die and rest in peace instead of having to live a troubled, emotionally painful life...it really is only humane, and just because abortion is legal doesn't mean everyone will abort their children, it just means they have the choice to carry on with their life as normal if they really have to. Also, I don't live in the U.S but it's a huge country and making abortions illegal is only going to give other governments ideas, it's worldwide peer pressure and it could lower rape victims to the class of their attackers, it's wrong.
Glad to get that off my chest...
The C-section comment was said by a young person, possibly 13/14. I think what was meant was that it would stop them having to give birth in pain (because C-sections are a walk in the park, of course). And 'abortion is worse than rape' was said to me by a fervent anti-choice activist, and he meant for the WOMAN, not the fetus. This is from his leaflet:
'Abortion is worse than rape. It involves a painful examination of a woman's sexual organs by a masked stranger who is invading her body. During a rape, a woman is robbed of her purity. Durng abortion, she is robbed of her maternity.'
I always get an image of The Hooded Claw from the cartoon 'the perils of Penelope Pitstop' when I think of this. Don't know why. As for the 'purity' part, and 'robbed of maternity', it made me want to do something drastic with a bamboo pole.
nightingale - I was gonna have that one about the 'crime of the father', but somehow it got left off! I must've forgotten it.

****Any contributions for anti-choice bingo part two are welcome****
I think my my "favorite" is the "Abortion causes breast cancer" one. *rolls eyes*
its great, but it needs something about the supposed "woman who uses abortion instead of condoms" or "abortion as birth control" meme.
Its funny, but I have yet to meet anyone who uses that line who knows even one person who has actually forgone all other methods of contraception in favor of an abortion.
What about something about the "baby" being separate from the mother? Too many people talk like (and some actually seem to think that) a mother is not necessary for a blastocyst or fetus.
hahahah "I once met a woman who regretted her abortion" that is soooo typical and spot on.
(see also: I'm not a racist, my friend is black;
I'm not homophobic, I have a gay uncle, etc)
hahaha
Yeah, or even 'I'm not racist, I like hip-hop!'
Anti-choice bingo round two is almost complete. Already. Isn't that scary?
"Abortion is genocide" should read "Abortion is genocide/America's Holocaust." Boy does that one get me stabby.
Cactus Wren, that drinking game is awesome!
"Its funny, but I have yet to meet anyone who uses that line who knows even one person who has actually forgone all other methods of contraception in favor of an abortion."
I heard that some women did in times and places in the USSR when and where they faced severe shortages of contraception and the only ways for them to not give birth were abstinence and abortion.

Oops, sorry for the double post!
"All women regret their decision one day"?
Wow! I guess I'm not a woman, because I don't regret mine.
HAHA!
I like the "Damn Feminazis" one as I consider myself part of that group.
I never heard c-sections for rape victims but for women whose health is at risk if the pregnancy continues. These people are under the delusion that it's childbirth not pregnancy that is the problem.
