About two weeks ago a feminist community members posted a picture of a sign she saw at a jewelry store in NY that said, "Your husband called and said you can buy anything you want." When I read about it, I thought the sign was pretty stupid and insulting since most women make their own money these days and anyway, aren't men usually the biggest targets of jewelry because apparently all women want as a gift is jewelry and flowers.

Last week I was on vacation in a small mountain/lake community in a western US state and was going to some of the small touristy shops there with my parents and partner and lo and behold, the store had a sign with the exact same message by the cash register!

I guess the makers of the sign and the people who put them up in their stores must think they're being cute but it's really just insulting. I know lots of people already commented on the other post so i won't repeat the same sentiments but I did want to just share that the signs seem to be spreading...
