The first time Tina laid eyes on the Governor, she must have been of two minds: first: what a golden opportunity, second: holy shit I hope she doesn't become for me what Gilligan became for Bob Denver.

She missed one obvious possibility for "spreading democracy in Iraq" -- send community organizers from the U.S. to conduct voter registration drives. ;-)

Wow! Fey can act almost half as stupid as the real THING!

I think Tina Fey must be very torn right now. As a patriotic liberal, she has to feel that Sarah Palin being elected Vice President would be a disaster for the country, given how elderly McCain is and his poor health. And yet, as a comedic actor, she must feel that, if Palin *does* become the VP, she herself is going to have steady work for at least the next four years and will go down in history with Chevy Chase and Dana Carvey as one of the greatest presidential/vice presidential impersonators ever. :-)

I'm sure Fey will do the right thing and vote for her country, not her career, but man, I wouldn't want to be put in the position of voting against my shot at comedic greatness for four whole years or else voting against everything I stand for... :-)

Tina Fey is an absolute comedic genius. She's the only reason I bother watching SNL anymore. Everything she says, every little move, is just so spot on. The only thing missing from her impersonation is a baby and a gun.

You know, I really think Tina could do a bit more on the arrogance front. Something that makes it so easy for conservatives to ignore Palin's problems and for thinking people to be confounded by her (and obviously so hard for Palin to humbly admit when she makes a blunder) is her SHEER SELF-ASSURANCE. I mean, I don't actually think that Palin genuinely believes in her own capability, but in her acceptance speech and her Gibson and Couric interviews, she has this cool, level-voiced self-assurance that means she can say things like "we share a narrow maritime border," "creating jobs under the umbrella of job-creation" etc, and NOT CHOKE!

A lot of people have said she always sounds in interviews like a high school student who hasn't done the reading, and is bullshitting her way through the oral exam. This is totally true. And has anyone else noticed the way she stresses all her prepositions and pronouns? "Rick recused HIMself FROM the deal-eens..." "A solution FOR this problem" "That obligation TO protect..." "This is crisis moment FO-OR America". It's because she doesn't know what the hell she's talking about, and she's trying to put focus on the unimportant bits of what she's saying. Tina, come on! Do the arrogance! It's funny, really!

Dude, Palin just making it too easy for Fey...

I'm loving Tina Fey right now.

And despite critiques that Poehler doesn't pull off a good Couric, I think she perfectly pulled of the "I can't believe how dumb Palin is" look.

I find it interesting that people on this site are so approving of SNL making fun of Palin, when I think there was more than a couple of you who were not so happy about SNL making fun of Clinton. Hmmmm....

Hmmmm...

I imagine, maggie1, there are a few possible contributing reasons.

Like for instance, Clinton was much more intelligent, educated and qualified.

Moreover, Clinton actually supported most "women's rights" issues that are important to feministing readers, whereas Palin does not.

Plus, I think watching some of Palin's interview clips you might think they /were/ Tina Fey if you didn't know any better -b/c she sounds goofy, a lot. Not unlike George W. Bush.
I don't like McCain and don't want him to win the election, but (other than the hot-headedness) he at least sounds more competent than either Bush or Palin...
