Gasp, I FINALLY got this to work!

So, I have been having so much trouble with this god damn blogging, its driving me nuts! I wrote an awesome blog.. and long... THEN it never posted. So.. I opted for just reading, not writing. But I think an update is long over due.

I quit the plumbing receptionist job about a month ago. Why you ask? Where do I begin!?!

Within two weeks, some pretty amazing things happened (sarcasm). I had the opportunity to file my very first (hooray!) sexual harassment paper work! A plumber decided it would be in his best interest to come up behind me and garb my waist. YEP. gross. THEN.. they hired a new girl. I was almost shocked, as it was a staff of about 25 WHITE people.. they hired a black girl. I was almost proud of them... THEN, it was ... unbelievable.

First, they held a meeting for all the plumbers... to notify them that "they were hiring a black girl" YES, they did that. I know. What was their reaction you ask? And I quote... "Welp, looks like we cant use the n-word anymore". BANG, hear that? Yeah... my jaw was on the floor.

Then, I over heard the HR director offering her and "amazing" bump in starting pay! She was told that instead of the normal 10 an hour, they would give her 11. Which... I thought was funny, because when I was offered the position (which I declined because I had too many school obligations) they told ME (the young, still in college, white girl) that the starting pay was $12.75!!! AND (wait, it gets better) this girl is 25 years old, a mother, wants a steady job, and has TWO college degrees.

THEEEN, they kept moving her around in the office because "they didnt want her to over hear any of them saying racist comments" YES!!!! YES.

Oh my fucking god.

So, naturally ... I got the fuck outta there. I told the girl before I left (we've actually started a great friendship, shes awesome!) and then... I WENT OFF to the owner and manager of the company. I told them they were sexist, racist assholes and I couldnt be associated with that type of company. Well, I told them that.. and all sorts of things when I had the hour conversation with them about everything, but I dont feel like typing that all...

so yeah, great summer huh? I was flabbergasted, seriously. She actually quit there a few weeks ago too... and was offered a job thats REALLY starting her at 40K/year. I'm super excited for her.

Anyways, there is my brief update... so, I'll probably just rant about politics until November... alot. I dont have as many ignorant people around me as I did during the summer, but something tells me they're still out there?
