Palin and her abortion stance

Govenor Palin's stance on access to abortion to be limited only to those women whose lives are in danger. She does not believe that women and girls who are victims of rape and incest should have abortions. So my question is this - if her husband rapes her daughter, would she really force her daughter to carry the pregnancy to term? We already have enough of this kind of behavior in Kentucky. We do not need a national political figure supporting the birth of children that are a result of incest.

Where did you get your info? A speech she made, a vote she cast, legislation she passed? I'm just curious because I can't find anything than other web sites saying she is. What has she done to support her pro life stance?

I just heard on CNN news that Palin's 17-year-old daughter is 5 months pregnant. Apparently the girl is keeping it and marrying the boy that got her pregnant. McCain also knew that she was pregnant before he chose Palin. So I assume that within the next couple months, this girl will be used as a prop for their campaign and their anti-choice platform. Aren't people disgusting?

How refreshing. Aren't you intelligent, with your cliche blow to Kentucky. Aren't you supposed to be a feminist? Aren't you supposed to be for equality regardless of a condition someone is in at birth? Aren't you supposed to be fighting against stereotypes? I happen to be a proud Kentuckian and a member of the National Honors Society, Beta Club, and Spanish Honors Society. I've also been recognized by the National Honor Roll and Who's Who Among American High School Students. I am not an inbred hillbilly and neither are my fellow Kentuckians.

I agree with cloud that it seems both stereotypical and unfair to associate the entire state of Kentucky with incest and "backward" behavior. I think your post would be much more well received if you removed that sentence.

becca-

"Palin, a member of the anti-choice group Feminists for Life, said during her campaign for governor that she is opposed to abortion, even in cases of rape or incest."

I can't speak for Suellen, but when I read the post I assumed that she was speaking about Kentucky's legislation record when it comes to abortion. NARAL speaks to this at: http://www.naral.org/choice-action-center/in_your_state/who-decides/state-profiles/kentucky.html

I didn't read it as a stereotype of people from Kentucky. I come from (I think) the most politically conservative province in Canada, and I can understand how it feels when people make generalizations about the whole province. However, my province does regularly attempt to enforce conservative and in my opinion anti-feminist legislation so I guess when I hear people generalize this to the whole province, I have changed the way I view this from being stereotypical to being thankful that I can be aware of this behaviour from my province so that I can try and change some things here.

I see that a couple of you were upset about what Suellen said about Kentucky. Just so you know, I went to her blog and website (linked from the blog) and I'm pretty sure she is from Kentucky. And when she referred to "this kind of behavior" I think it was in reference to a staunch anti-choice viewpoint, one that she has seen in local government in Kentucky, and one which the author doesn't want represented on a national scale, and NOT in reference to incest.

I mean, I could be wrong. Perhaps her phrasing is poor but there is no need to assume the worst.
