Does this asshole honestly believe that paying lower class women a measly thousand bucks to have their tubes tied is a viable answer to issues with poverty and welfare? There are so many things wrong with this man's (lack of) thinking that I am not even sure where to begin!
First of all, It is quite obvious that the ubiquitous "welfare queens" that men like Louisiana Republican lawmaker, John Labruzzo, seem to believe are so damn prevalent in America, would be intelligent enough to realize that having more children would net them much more money than receiving a one time payment of a thousand dollars. It should also be very apparent that very, very few women would undergo such a potentially risky and difficult to reverse procedure, unless they were entirely certain that they had absolutely no desire for children in their future. Is Labruzzo offering to cover the costs of having the sterilization reversed in a few years, when the woman is back on her feet? Doubt it. Does he honestly believe that women are that fucking money hungry? They aren't. Really, the only women who I think would agree to this harebrained plan would be the few who had already come to the conclusion that they had no desire for children in their future and wanted to take advantage of this guy's ridiculous idea. I have a hunch that these are not the women that Labruzzo is looking to sign up for his moronic scheme.
Clearly, the best option for decreasing the poverty level and the number of families on welfare is to offer more jobs and better educations, as well as providing attainable birth control and abortions. Offering women what amounts to shit for their sterilization is not going to solve a fucking thing.
Oh, and Labruzzo: The reason that the media has jumped on this revolutionary "idea" of yours, is because it is one of the most idiotic concepts ever and it is only too easy to deride. To compare you to Jessica Simpson is being much too kind.

I absolutely loved the way he tai-chi'd the conversation from generational welfare to fleeing hurricane victims to Wall Street Bail out to Illegal aliens.
He made being slime seem so effortless.

This guy is brilliant. How could nobody notice before that poverty is a problem? Makes you wonder how the government can function. Seriously.
In the article I read about him it did mention that to avoid accusations of sexual discrimination he's also willing to pay men for vasectomies. Very politically correct.
He'll also be offering tax incentives for college educated people with higher incomes to have children.
Bringing back the eugenics movement, which, by the way, was not begun in Nazi Germany, but right here in the land of the free. The most famous case was in 1929, before the Germans really got started with their ideas. Buck v. Bell. And it upheld the government's right to forcibly sterilize. I don't think it was actually overturned until like the 60s, but I'm not positive about that one.
Pathetic. Reminiscent of the Tuskegee Experiment.
