I just heard on NPR and confirmed on the BBC website that in the wake of the rumors, the Mccain campaign wants to "set the record straight" and has announced that 17 year old Bristol Palin is currently pregnant.  They have also stated that she will have the baby (they are proud of her decision) and will marry the father.

Is this legit?  In any case, even MORE evidence that abstinence only doesn't work.  I hate to be so so cynical, but I can totally see this being a massive cover-up, and I only hope Bristol Palin gets through her ordeal alright.

I wonder how appealing shotgun weddings are to voters, and I also wonder if the McCain campaign sees the irony in asking the US to honor the Palin family's privacy when McCain and Palin themselves have so little regard for the private reproductive and medical choices of American Women.
