Like my own little Thank You Thursday. Except on a Tuesday.
I've always supported Planned Parenthood, either through my donations or by pimping them on my (now defunct) Save Roe Myspace. Through all that, however, I have never once needed their services. Until yesterday.
I go to college in New York, but I'm from New Jersey. Therefore, I have out of state insurance. Many doctors do not accept out of state insurance, so when I decide it's time for my first ever visit to the vag doctor, this causes a problem.
Feeling incredibly frustrated, I called Planned Parenthood and made an appointment to see them.
When I arrived at the building, I had to go through a myriad of security checks ( how much it sucks that this is necessary is a whole other topic) before actually getting in. Once I did get in, I was given a free exam (based on my lack of in state insurance) and offered low cost birth control. I was astounded at how helpful and comforting they were. I got no weird looks or rude questions when discussing my sexuality/sexual health and it was very refreshing.
So, a big thanks to the Planned Parenthood in Lower Manhattan, and an even bigger thanks to Planned Parenthood in general. Keep up the awesome work!

Planned parenthood is EPIC WIN. I love PP.
I've been to Planned Parenthood and have always been quite impressed. I went there years ago because I had to get an abortion. It was a really hard time for me and I got a lot of support from them.
The only thing that kinda urks me is that there have been a couple times when I've had an appt at the NW location in Portland, OR and even so, it takes FOREVER to see someone. It occured to me, though, that it could be due to the lack of employees because of a financial situation, so DONATE you guys! Places such as this that obviously help out a lot of people
