So, I don't quite know if this is an okay thing to post about, but here it goes.
My name is Nina and I go to a small art academy outside of Portland, OR, called ACMA. I have been attending since 7th grade, with focuses in choral music, studio television, and writing (the most important one). After 5 years, I am a senior, but being a senior creates a few unwanted responsibilities.
Over the course of this school year I am required to participate in 'Capstone' a class in which I will have to reflect over my past 17 years as a student, artist, and person. I will be writing a paper and giving an hour-long speech about these reflections. During this experience I am required to have a mentor, someone who lives and breathes what I want my future to be in the world.
I hope to be studying gender/women's studies when I attend college next fall. Ever since I was little, my parents have raised me to treat everyone fairly, not matter what age, sex or race they are. I feel that as an adult, my career should focus on making these ideals a reality.
So, here is my issue. I have not found anyone in the Portland area would enjoy being my mentor. I have e-mailed a few professors and other women, but my academic purists seem to be unexciting for them. I was hoping and wondering if anyone had any idea of where I should look (or if anyone wanted to be my e-mail mentor!). I'm not looking for anyone fancy or famous, just some one that will be able to help me mold my picture for my future. If you have anything that can help, my e-mail is 78nina@gmail.com, or please go ahead and comment.
Thank you for your time!

Hi Nina! I don't know if there's a minimum age for your mentor, or if I'm even a good choice for you, but I would like to help you. I'm a junior in college at a state university in Florida. I'm a journalism major with minors in digital media and women's studies. Feminist activism is my main thing - I'm an officer in our campus chapter of NOW and I'm also an officer in an art club that I helped start up. Soo if you're interested, you can e-mail me at corcordium@gmail.com. :)
