This is absolutely charming. All over my my gyno's office, there are ads for Botox, Juvederm, special mineral make up, facial skin treatments... While getting my well-woman exam, I can see over my knee an expressionless man advertising Botox.
Shouldn't the gynecologist's office be the one place you can get away from all this BS? I'm going to make sure I'm healthy, not to get a good dose of self-hate! How long have people not been allowed to age gracefully? I'm 20 and I'm scared of what'll happen as this trend continues. Health should take precedence over beauty standards!
This poster offends me... "You've never looked smarter" ?! I know it's a cute little tag line, but it's still offensive! I thought traditionally, those with wrinkles and signs of aging were regarded as having wisdom that comes with age. Now the inability to frown or furrow your brow makes you "look smarter" ? Heck, when I'm in class and pretending to work, I purposefully furrow my brow.
I know there's demand for it, I know there's plenty of people that do it for personal reasons, and I have nothing against people that do it, but it strikes me as a bit shifty to advertise it in an environment in which women may already be feeling vulnerable. And offering discounts on medical procedures always makes me nervous, much like $500 of Lasik if you bring in your Astros baseball ticket stub. If you're going to get a procedure, don't get the cheapest, get quality.
Sorry about the disjointedness and rambling of this post, but I live in Houston and I'm just about terrified of this hurricane. I'm also pretty new to all this feminism and cohesively explaining why, but I'm learning and getting better.

That's really gross to have ads like that at the gyno's office. Of course, I guess it could have been worse, it could have been ads for vaginal rejuvenation.
Also, stay safe! I'm in San Antonio so I've been keeping a close eye on Ike as well. Best wishes!
I think these beauty ads in a place geared towards health are symptoms of the way the beauty industry has been attempting to make health and beauty synonymous.
Urgh... The picture didn't post for reasons unknown.

There it is. I'm having such problems with computers. :( I blame the hurricane.
