So, today in my English class, when we were watching the Frankenstein movie with Kenneth Branaugh and Helena Bonham Carter, there is a part (that is, mind you, not in the book) in the movie when Helena's character, Elizabeth, says to Victor, "Will you marry me?".
Oh no. Mr. Misogynist Student don't like when woman proposes to man.
So he says:
"Only men should propose to women. That's just the way it should be."
Yes. It should also be that women get paid nothing for their work, while men are just thrown money at them.
What century do we live in again?

Sounds like someone (Mr. Misogynist) has issues with women being anything more than meek, pretty things to look at. Either that or (maybe both) he feels that we should still live in an age where the woman is property of the male and feels that if a woman proposes that she is trying to own the male.
:P I hate traditional proposals. I hate the expectation of gooshy romance that follows it. I love my husband dearly, but had he ever tried the big, long planned, stereotypical proposal I probably would have walked away (from the situation, not necessarily the relationship). I really hate weddings to. The relationship my husband and I have is ours. People know that. Why does one have to announce it to the world by spending thousands on a wedding? (We got married for $80 in the county clerk office with one of our closer friends there as a witness).
So if a woman he loves and wants to spend the rest of his life with proposes to him, he would... say no? A little short-sighted, methinks!
