Very stupid. But most girls and boys still do it. I've found myself many times in a group of teens talking about their "feminine" or "masculine" side. As a tennage myself, I hate this kind of mindset, but I honestly don't know what to do about it. People seem to love stereotypes.

huh. According to this quiz, I'm a guy. Interesting. If I like Star Wars, hate shopping, am not a fan of pink, I must therefore not be a true woman. BTW, have you noticed that the guys section seems to have more variety than the girls? Guys can have all kinds of activities, but girls can just dress up in pink, wear dresses and go shopping. And what's with "Smile a lot more than you should?" That just freaks me out. It's like "you're allowed to be happy only this much of the time." This reminds me of when guys have tried to gently give me advice on how I should act more feminine, and I blasted them that as a female, I am feminine. And since they are so ready to tell me what to wear and how to act, maybe that gives me the authority to do the same to them. Simple minded, mentally lazy, common human dumb-shits.

I completely agree with you on that! Ugh. At least I and a couple girls I know, we sit down, do them, tot up the marks, and laugh at the fact that the stereotypes are just that - stereotypes.

Still, there are definitely issues with the questions, e.g. "its hilarious when people get hurt" (violence = desirable masculine trait), "you smile alot more than you should" etc. reinforcing the fact that girls are supposed to prettify themselves and act for society.

There's no harm in doing these quizzes aware of what they stand for and calling them out for ridiculousness at the end... but I suppose most teenagers who do them don't think through? =/ That's also areal problem, that awareness is so low amongst youth.

I used to get stuff like this all the time on Myspace. I always had fun tearing them to peices either with sarcastic wit or pointing out that I know guys who have 20 pairs of shoes, hate Star Wars, and cares inordinately about the way they look, along with pointing out that I have more video game systems then all my friends combined and live in my jeans.

It was probably lost on the majority of them, but at least it gets the point out that no males and females are not exclusive spheres. (And random woot of the day - over 90% of women play video games and the industry is finally realizing it!!)

No, I assure you, I think like a woman. If, coincidentally, that is not all that different than how men think, perhaps that should tell you something.

It's hard to pick the stupidest item on the list, but I think "you like wearing body spray/deodorant" is right up there. Who actually ENJOYS wearing body spray and/or deodorant? I don't "like" it - it's something that I just do, y'know, like washing my face or brushing my teeth. That's like saying that I'm a macho man because I looooove flossing.

I guess the facts that I go to both my parents for advice, played on mixed-gender sports teams in gym class when I was ten, and prefer not to freeze my feet when I sleep mean that I'm a dude.

I agree that the deodorant comment is idiotic. I don't wear deodorant because I like to in and of itself but because I like to smell good and prefer to avoid armpit sweat. All my guy friends think the same way, and most of them aren't big on sports, so I guess they're girls.
