My boss, former Colorado congresswoman Pat Schroeder, wrote this Op-Ed for a newspaper in Colorado, urging citizens from her home state to reject Amendment 48, a motion to criminalize abortion and other forms of birth control.
She writes "Years ago, when I was asked how I could be both a mother and a Congresswoman, I replied, "I have a brain and a uterus and I use both."
On Nov. 4, I urge Coloradans to use their brains and protect women's uteruses. Vote no on Amendment 48."
There was also an interesting segment on NPR this morning about a similar ballot initiative in South Dakota - so infuriating. A state with 600,000 people could reopen the debate on the constitutionality of legalized abortions.
P.S. Read the readers comments only if you want to be enraged.

I voted yesterday AGAINST this stupid amendment. I can only hope a majority did as well!
That's awesome. We actually distributed that op-ed for Ms. Schroeder and she was nice enough to allow us to film her reading a part of her op-ed for a video. You can see the video of Pat here.
I voted no on 48. I'm also concerned about 47, which is aimed directly at working people.
Here's a site with info about Amendment 47:

This is kind of a shot in the dark, but I distantly recall reading that some Islamic law traditions forbid women to wear adornments that make distinctive noises--traditionally, bracelets and anklets with bells or jingling charms. The only time this was considered acceptable was when a woman was alone with her husband. The sensory stimulation was considered seduction, and therefore suitable bedroom furniture only for the bedroom.
