Sarah Palin- the Flava Flav connection

I know this is a little late, but this has been weighing heavily on my mind. Sarah Palin makes me cringe every time I hear her speak. It is not just because she's a republican and I don't agree with many (ok none) of her political views. She makes me sick because she doesn't have any of her own ideas. Sarah Palin is simply John McCain's puppet. She's a robot. It became quite clear during her appearances with Katie Couric and Charles Gibson that she really doesn't understand what she should say or believe, because she doesn't understand republican ideology. That ignorance is seriously demeaning to women because she makes it seem like women aren't as competent as men in the political arena. In the hip hop community, she is what we would call a "hype man" like Flava Flav.

She's on the ticket to incite excitement among the republicans, but she has nothing to offer the ticket on her own. Ever wonder why Flava Flav has never had a successful solo career? (Ok I haven't either:) It's because he can't really rap, sing, or play anything well. He's on songs with other artists because he knows how to get people excited, not because he's got talent. Therefore, having Sarah Palin as a "hype man" on the republican ticket sets women back instead of advancing us. She has set the expectations of women politicians SO low. Also, she plays the sex card by viciously attacking Obama and Biden, but in the next instance, pretending to be a sweet lil hockey mom when it is convenient, so no one will attack her less than savory past. (Alaskan segregationist husband-wtf???) I am embarrassed, I am angry, and I am wishing that one day, maybe sometime in the future, she will meet Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in a debate. Then we will see how the "hype man" Palin fares with someone who doesn't have to be careful with the "sweet little hockey mom."
