i stumbled upon this today....it's funny because i was on reddit and it was listed like some sort of porn gallery almost....i ended up clicking because i've been spending a lot of time on like del.icio.us and reddit etc and it's always strange to me how everybody seems to have one whole category of NUDES XXX SWEET DUDES but they usually end up being these sort of photo-journalism projects that make me think a lot and tear up.
not to mention i think it's insane how overly sexualized breasts are in the united states. seriously totally insane. anyways just wanted to share! a lot of the quotes are very beautiful and raise a lot of interesting points.
am i curious as to why so many sites like reddit, fazed etc seem to continually confuse these sort of projects with GALLERY OF BOOBIES TEE HEE...any thoughts?

maybe showing the women topless is supposed to be a way of showing sexual liberation. I mean accepting your body for what it is is a great thing to do.
You might be on to something.
I find this gallery a lot more credible in terms of being a statement of acceptance vs the usual statement of fantasy masquerading as reality. At least a full range of body types and ages are being depicted.
no no i think it absolutely is for the jordan site. i mean the link to the site was on reddit as something for like 'lots of great tit pics' which i've seen happen on various link sites for very similar collections. clearly it's not meant to be peep show-esque...it's very respectful and sensual and embraces the women as they are....i'm just curious why i've seen this sort of site linked to as some sort of WOO FREE BOOBIES
It's "teehee boobies!" for the same reason that people freak out over women breast-feeding in public, the same reason breast-cancer "awareness" is marketed as "Save the boobies". Because patriarchal culture has turned breasts from being a standard-issue (although far from standardly the same!) body part just like fingers and knees and teeth with a specific and life-giving function in the bearing of children, to "Menz favorite playthings". And people online who see that lovely and empowering photo gallery and go "omg boobz!" about it are scared of what it might mean for their privilege if women refused to do what they're told, and are participating in an attempt to shame these women back into "behaving themselves" and keeping their bodies as the property of teh menz.
What a shame that it was marketed that way. I thought the images were absolutely moving and inspiring. However it made me sad that there were few in-between bodies like my own. Still, after seeing that I feel much less self conscious. The coolest thing about that gallery was the commentary from the models for it.
The human body can never be depicted without a measure of sexuality. Sexuality is such a large portion of individuality and is expressed in both the subject and the observer.
I loved this! It felt like a pictorial breast version of The Vagina Monologues. It was real and beautiful. I loved the stories of the women. I was surprised that there weren't more in-between women too. And I was stunned that after all those women, not one had a nipple ring! It's a beautiful collection though. It seems like one of those books that should be on every woman's center's coffee table.
I've actually seen this before! It was a photo project that this guy did for a holiday, I forget when it is or what its called, but its something like topless day. In New York, it is legal for every person to go topless, and has been for about ten years. The day is meant to celebrate that, and basically everyone just takes advantage of the law on one day to illustrate the weird visualization of breasts, and the disparity between what is acceptable nudity and what is not. Why should guys be allowed to be topless, but not women?
I agree with the comments in some of the pictures in the gallery itself that a lot of the hyper-sexualization of breasts in America has to do with how forbidden they are supposed to be at all times. I think it's the same phenomena as alcohol. Young people in Europe are exposed to nudity and alcohol as a regular part of society, and not something evil and hidden, so they grow up treating those things normally.
Once again the remnant puritanical nature of our society is keeping us emotionally stunted as a society.
I really wish I could go topless without having people think i was weird/trying to get attention.
