Abortion in children's forums

My sister was browsing through Gaia online today and she found a post in one of the forums that caught her attention... here I'm going to state exactly what was said.

Kikkaku: not all christians are anti-abortion

mortok: I hate these ones: Abortion doctors are murderers (more of an outright lie rather than a stereotype)

Green Day 68 : Technically, it IS murder because you're killing a LIVE human being. :/

mortok: It isn't because you aren't. If it can't exist independantly of it's host, it can't be considered a life.

Tarantellatears: Last I checked, "parasites" were still alive. Besides, a born baby can't live independently of its parents - it would die too. Is a born baby not alive?

mortok: "Existing" and "surviving" are not the same thing. Rocks exist, don't they?

To be considered it's own, individual person (and have the associated rights thereof), it has to exist SEPERATELY from the mother, not inside her. WHile it is inside her, it is a part of her, and her right to bodily integrity allows her to do whatever she likes with it.

Femaleavatar: I'm not entirely anti-abortion (if the baby has bad genetics), but if it has good genes I feel the woman has an obligation to become a mother.

(I'm particularly proud of this one though it has nothing to do with the above statements)

Melancholy Cat: I've always hated how today's humans are obsessed with gender. They define themselves based on their gender and try to define you based on your gender.

Every time someone says something like "girls, why is my girlfriend doing this" or "what gifts do boys like" I just want to go ape s**t.

This is not the whole conversation and there is plenty missing about other subjects.. if you would like to read the whole thing (I'm not sure if you need an account to read it) this is the address.

oh Gaia extended discussion...
I spent a lot of my time on Gaia in extended discussion Forums before I realized the whole thing was an echo chamber. 'Controversial' threads go on for hundreds of pages with no one really addressing what other people have said or not listening to what others have said and basically dropping in, reading the first post and leaving their two cents. A discussion may go for a few pages between a couple of individuals (usually amounts to as much as talking to a brick wall) and then the very same argument starts all over again...
One of the reasons I avoid the ED page like the plague...

Gaia is not for children, it is rated pg-13. For teenagers to adults. And yeah, the ED is mostly full of pretentious people who only know how to present an argument, not fight against others.

Of course, all of Gaia is kind of like that. Go to the General Discussion. You're head will explode. XD

That female avatar girl sounds like quite the proud little eugenecist...

Since when are women "obligated" to be mothers? I don't care if her blood courses with the greatest genetic soup the world has ever known, if she does not wish to reproduce, she should not be forced to.

We had a discussion going for most of the pages... well i didn't my sister did... I only popped in once and read everything then left my two cents and popped out... i plan on going back though... as to the children comment... by forum for children i mean generally if you look at the website it seems more geared children then adults... I know plenty of adults who hold no interest in the cartoon/anime art. Or the dozens or so tweens and teens chilling about... or even the games... sure there may be a good amount of older people there but a majority of them are teens and younger... basically children.

The femaleavatar person was pretty much ignored except by my sister who quoted her and said *shoots you for your stupidity* and that was all. Of course that also may not be the exact thing she said... but it requires much searching on my behalf to find it again.... forums are extremely inconvenient when trying to find specific things.

The fetus is not a part of the mothers body. If he/she was the mother would have 4 arms, 4 legs and if the fetus were a boy she would also have a penus. As this is not possible it would seem that the fetus is not a part of the mothers body.
