Priviledging anti-abortion docs
Dahlia Litwick at SLATE magazine has a great piece on how the SC mandatory pre-abortion script shows a favoritism to the consciences of health care workers who oppose abortion compared with the consciences of health care workers who support it:
"Reading the new HHS regulations together with the mandatory South Dakota "script," one can conclude only that those same health providers who cannot legally be compelled to perform, assist in, or clean tools for an abortion may nevertheless be compelled by law to deliver misinformation about it. The freedom and autonomy of doctors who oppose abortion are to be protected. But those willing to provide abortions can be forced to deliver a state message with which they completely disagree. Something tells me that one's freedom and autonomy shouldn't generally depend upon one's moral or religious preferences."

Nice, thanks for the link!
Yeah I read that through msn. Its ridiculous how they get special treatment for not doing their jobs. Its like me, working at Starbucks and refusing to sell coffee because I am against all forms of drugs. Its just ridiculous! I am all for religious freedom and tolerance and all that 1st amendment stuff but when you're compromising patient care and giving out false or misleading information it needs to stop.
