Wow. That was really awesome.
Do you know who produced it? There were some EXTREMELY famous people in this skit (Oscar and Emmy nominated performers).
Marc Shaiman (who also wrote Hairspray) came up with this fabulous skit. If you go to the "funny or die" website, it has a list of all of the cast members and such. I was late catching onto the craze, but Prop 8: The Musical is certainly the best short musical ever.
This made my day.
Jack Black as Jesus - one good reason to start believing again.
That was sooo funny!
Major party pooper: The FOD seems to contain viruses - at least my anti virus programm told me so and denied acess to any video... booooo for viruses.
I seriously doubt FOD has viruses. More than likely it's a pop-up blocker or you need to update your virus program.
That was absolutely hysterical.
And...wow. Did I see John C. Reilly, Jack Black, Neil Patrick Harris, Maya Rudolph, and Margaret Cho all on the same stage?
STARSTRUCK!
Heh-heh...my school should so do this musical.
Sarah Chalke too.
And a few other faces I recognize but can't name.
That was friggin awesome.
Also Allison Janney
Andy Richter's also up there as well. For an internet sketch that thing is loaded with stars.
This was FANTASTIC! Hilarious and makes SO MUCH SENSE.
Hugely amusing.
ALLISON JANNEY! ;) I love her.
Also Kathy Najimy and, I think, Idina Menzel!
It's funny because it's true.
My friend sent me this earlier. It made my heart smile to see so many big-name celebrities getting involved. Plus it's HILARIOUS!
This may be too obscure for most, but Felicia Day (Codex from The Guild) is in the curtain call. And that sure looks like Idina Menzel.
This video seems to be making serious rounds on the facebook right now. As well it should.
I posted it on my myspace....
I'm hoping my crazy step-mom responds. She thinks I'm the devil because I like knowing Spanish, dont hate latina/os, want universal healthcare, support marriage equality, am pro-choice, and dont worship Bill-O and Fox News. Oh, and I DO think paying taxes is patriotic.
I love making the religious right unconfortable.
I thought this was really well done and funny, but I've always taken issue with the economic argument for marriage equality - something about people achieving civil rights on the basis of an economic benefit to the larger society bothers me
Yeah, but this seems to be satirizing that argument, rather than suggesting it's a good idea.
I like your comment because it's true that ethically we shouldn't consider the economics of equality as a factor, but historically economics have played a huge role in forcing equality. Look to the role that manufacturing jobs played in giving POC a strong stance during the civil rights struggle of the 60's/70's, and can we deny that women in the workplace played a major role in granting momentum to the womens movement?
So while I personally wish that money wasn't a factor I feel that it is and in any fight we should use the tool which are effective. This is why I always kick balls in a fight, it may not be playground rules, but I fight to win.
Maybe because, in replacement of having marriage be a financial contract of sorts between two individuals via dowries (or camels or what have you), it almost suggests that we are paying the state to get married (in that our marriage will be economically good for the state.)
In response, a haiku:
Let's get married, dear
It will be wonderful to
Raise the GNP
Don't forget Rashida Jones and Craig Robinson (Darryl from the Office). And it was written by the guy from Hairspray (Marc somumum), who is playing the piano.
In case anyone is curious, this page has a full cast list.

Love it! Posted it on my political blog Sparliament. Yes yes, that was shameless self-promotion.
As a general comment: I find it pleasantly surprising that they were able to mobilise so many celebs into making an appearance and taking a stand on the issue. Margaret Cho of course made me smile :)
This was very clever and well written.
Though it upsets me that still the tactics used to increase favor in one's position, is to make fun of the other side. While I think Proposition 8 is unconstitutional, proponents of the Proposition are not all hateful religious zealots who only think about money as implied in this clip. Name calling, stereotyping, and characterizing is exactly the same tactics that gay rights activists have been fighting all along. This piece is ugly and hateful and has no place in this debate. Civil rights were not achieved at making fun of those people who had a different point of view, civil rights were achieved by working with those people civilly. Don't become the hate and bigotry that you wish to change.
