Obama set to lift Global Gag rule
I admit, I had my doubts as to whether President Obama could live up to our lofty expectations. But you have to admit...he's having a pretty damn good first week!

Hell yes! First closing Gitmo, now this :)
Now I'm just waiting for him to overturn that silly Right to Conscience thingy that makes my head want to explode.
The Right to Conscience thing isn't going through, either, as far as I know. He's stopped all of Bush's 'last minute policies' in their tracks. I assume it means that one, too.
Well from what I heard some group (I forget who) is trying to say that the Right to Conscience law is included in that last minute stuff his administration was trying to push through so it should be stopped by what Obama did the other day...but then some are saying that was already a done deal when Obama got into office, so it's not effected by what Obama did the other day. So I don't think it's all figured out quite yet.
This is great - I assume he issued an executive order? I'm hoping next he will work with congress to work on legislation, so that Bush policy reversals like this can be made permanent (to prevent a future president from reversing Obama's executive orders by just issuing another). Well, now's the time to act since we have a largely democratic congress (at least until 2010).
It would also be nice if he worked with congress to pass legislation that would reverse the Hyde amendment and other anti-choice, anti-women laws. Keep it up Obama!
