Ok. They're trying to move on from the outlandishly offensive women are pieces of meat thing. No, now they have moved on to women want to fuck vegtables :
(Here's a link just in case it doesn't embed)
I am so glad they have moved on. Because what better way to move past using sex and women's bodies to promote vegetarinism than to...use sex and women's bodies to promote vegetarinism.
Apparently, PETA wanted to play this ad on NBC during the superbowl, but NBC nixed the ad because of it's highly sexual content.
But this new marketing campaign has barely even begun. PETA is gearing up for it's "Veggie Love " campaign. This vegetarianism=hot sex tactic has been used by PETA in Europe for a while now. Why not submit a campaign idea to them and suggest that they quit objectifying women?

Oh my god. This ad was disgusting. It was nearly painful for me to watch. I definitely sent them the Brand New Idea of NOT objectifying women for profit (what a concept!), in which I also talked about disgusting ads in the past "Ink not Mink" (feat. naked women and men) and "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" (also feat. the Same). Sigh.
After doing that kind of stuff to your vegetables why the fuck would you want to eat them...
First of all, do studies REALLY show vegetarians have better sex?
Second of all, why does PETA think an anti-cruelty message needs to be delivered in naked women and sex? Usually, if you have a message that you can't sell any other way, you could deliver it in sexual images because otherwise no one would pay attention.
But anti-cruelty is in itself a compelling message. I'm not a vegetarian, but I've moved towards a more anti-cruelty lifestyle over time because, hey, it's something that's has its own merits - I don't need to be told my sex will be better if I do it. The benefits on animals is its own carrot and stick.
In reality, the flashy naked women and sexy ads are doing the opposite - all you see is the nakedness, what the hell really is the message it's carrying?
I'm a vegetarian and I am ashamed and disgusted with PETA. I have signed up for their newsletters and have them as friends on myspace, but thats all going to change now.
Peta is ridiculous. When they're not being offensive and obnoxious to push their unsustainable, unhealthy lifestyles, they're...
Oh, wait.
That's all they do.
Yes i do agree with you that their advertisements are offensive but please don't insult my lifestyle as a vegetarian. I have been one for nine years and I'm very healthy. I've never once pushed my lifestyle on anyone else.
I am also a vegetarian who hates PETA, and I'm very healthy as well.
I agree with many of the critiques of PETA in this discussion and am not an advocate of their methods. This ad (while I support the idea of trying to make vegetarianism more acceptable to the general public) is incredibly offense and tasteless.
However, I take issue with the phrase "unhealthy and unsustainable lifestyle" as it is quite harsh on vegans in general. For me, personally, my feminism and my interest in animal rights cannot be separated. Both stem from an interest to have every living being on this planet treated with respect. Yes, human rights take precedence over animal rights, but that is no reason to value humans so supremely that animals and nature are reduced to mere machines. Quite frankly, this type of sweeping condemnation of a particular, 'abnormal', alternative lifestyle is unfair to those of us who chose to embrace this lifestyle, even though we do not support PETA.
"unhealthy and unsustainable lifestyle" as it is quite harsh on vegans in general.
Sorry. If the lifestyle was sustainable, one wouldn't need vitamin supplements, vitamin-enriched foods, or other items.
If you need science to supplement your diet, then your diet is not sustainable on it's own.
I've seen enough news stories of dead children because their parents pushed vegan diets on them.
Humans are omnivores. I will consider anything other than our optimum diet to be unhealthy.
Besides which, do you attempt to tell the lion of "animal rights", as she thunders down onto a herd of antelope? About how it's not right that she's doing that?
Animals eat other animals. Welcome to the circle of life, Simba. We aren't herbivorous.
Even if you believe that vegetarianism is unnatural, by your logic, you shouldn't get chemotherapy unless your body can cure cancer naturally. Why on earth shouldn't people take advantage of advances in sciences that allow them to both eat healthfully and live more sustainably?
I am vegan but I really hate how peta does this! Can we do something about this? Have a big protest or take some action? It's really horrible. I believe meat eating is linked to sexism. I don't understand when people separate the two. (see: The Sexual Politics of Meat: A Feminist-Vegetarian Critical Theory by Carol J. Adams). We treat women like how we treat animals.
I have a real hard time trying to figure out exactly how they measure the "vegetarians have better sex" claim. Does someone sit in on vegetarian couples vs. non-vegetarian couples and rate how much it turned them on? Please.
Secondly, like someone said on the other post about this particular ad, no one watches a porno for the life-changing message at the end. I don't even see how this would remotely be effective--unless their purpose was to make men masturbate or women want to masturbate with vegetables. I'm no advertising major, but I doubt a confusing message is criterion for good advertising.
This is an interesting example of the fallacy of the "sex sells" argument, because it's never really "sex" that's being sold, but women's bodies. Nobody is having sex in this commercial, really. Is it suggesting that vegetarians have better sex BECAUSE they fuck their vegetables? Kinda makes my brain hurt.
I believe that this ad was just a ploy to get everyone conversating (and it certainly worked.) PETA never intended to shell out the big bucks for superbowl advertising, knowing the buzz of rejection would be enough to start a clamor. Yeah I also think it's a bad idea to have naked women humping veggies trying to convince who? men? Not to stereotype but most men that would fall for this junk probably eat wings my the handful...
Has anyone received the canned letter of response from PETA?
PETA kills 85% of all animals they "save". They claim they are forced to kill viable animals because it is impossible to do much due to their limited budget (30mil annually). Yet PETA calls the slaughter of livestock MURDER and compares it to the Holocaust. In comparison their neighbors the Norfolk SPCA saves 73% of all animals they take in with a annual budget a fraction of a fraction of PETA.
PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk claims: "A rat is a dog is a boy". If a boy = a dog and animal "MURDER" is a acceptable practice by PETA standards, then is the killing of unwanted children acceptable? Apparently so according to PETA's logic.
PETA is against all animal medical research. Good luck living past 40 without modern medicine. If you support this then please refuse all medical treatment for you and your child since modern medicine was founded on the sacrifices of animal testing. PETAs leadership uses insulin which was tested on animals. PETA does not consider this hypocritical by any means. How convenient of them.
PETA's tax records show donations and loans made to convicted homegrown terrorist Rodney Coronado. PETA also contributed to his legal defense fund. Rodney has confessed in public lectures of firebombing private property in the name of ALF (Animal Liberation Front). PETA leadership calls this terrorist a "fine upstanding young man". Rodney has gone to college campuses to teach students to build home made firebombs.
PETA is no better than Al Qaeda, just more media savvy.

I'm sorry, but comparing PETA and Al Quaeda? Is this Godwin's Law for the new millennium? Crazy.
‘The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for whites or women for men.’
Alice Walker
PETA are strictly anti-breeding of animals, they heavily encourage people not to own pets, and generally try to do all they can to discourage the numbers of strays. They help prevent cruelty to animals and sterilize 50,000 animals a year, to prevent having to kill offspring that cannot be sheltered.
It would break anyone's heart to kill an animal, never mind those of us who see animals as rightful owners of their own lives.
PETA's stance is that it is up to us to do all we can to avoid having so many unwanted animals to have to put down to begin with. That's in addition to the work they do to help animals we breed for completely unnecessary reasons such as fashionable fur. Those minks and foxes are killed brutally.
I'm a vegetarian, but I use to be a PETA hater too. Then I did some research on the guy who runs the group that is behind the "Peta Kills Animals" website. What a winner. Real swell guy. Talk about a disgustingly covert agenda in the name of greed. Then I watched "I Am An Animal", about the founder of PETA. I realized that hating PETA's methods is one thing, but hating the group itself or their cause comes from being uninformed, so I started thinking for myself. As far as animal rights, PETA does well. The methods of getting attention are alarmist and counter-productive, but their cause is just.
As "in vogue" as it is to hate PETA, I've concluded that if I were an animal, defenseless against humans, perhaps with no means of living without suffering from lack of food or diseases too expensive to pay for, I'd want PETA fighting on my side, and a euthanizing that was as ethical as possible. Not a jolt of electricity up my butt (or worse) like what is done for livestock meat and animal fur.
I also support my local PAWS, so it evens out. There's only so much either group can do, but I understand that both are doing their best. They overlap well. Animals are defenseless, and PETA never claimed they didn't euthanize. It is on their front page that they are not an animal shelter organization.
Again, comparing them to Al Queada is silly. Does Al Quaeda conduct all of it's affairs in public, and kill humanely, and promote/sponsor spaying and neutering to prevent overpopulation, and discourage slavery/breeding of animals? I would say factory farming slaughterhouses are more like Al Queada.

let's make that "every historian", shall we. You need not be an ungodly scientist to say that, and I assume it's not heresy(?). Because anybody who has read a just enough of the Bible to know that it takes place in Palestine and that Jesus and his parents were from that area would know bedroom furniture that. Of course they are not "white". They would be brown/olive-tanned Middle Easterners.
