I have never understood the fact that one can be a feminist and work in an industry that values women solely for their bodies. We are told that in this new age, sex workers are the ultimate feminists because they take charge of their body and it's marketable value. Sure freedom to do what you want with your body is great but by doing so, workers are perpetuating the myth that women are their bodies and what they can do for you.
meh- you don't need to understand it, sanction it or approve it from the side lines in order for it to be a valid experience.
Valid or invalid experience doesn't enter into the argument. I have no doubt that there are many women who feel genuinely empowered by sex work. I also have no doubt that there are many women who feel genuinely empowered by having their genitals mutilated or being in "taken in hand" marriages. These feelings are irrelevant in the wider context of those actions.
Have you contacted some of the sex workers rights organizations in the area, like SWOP?
How accomplished a woman (girl in this case?) might be, she can be reduced to a mere sexual object at the hands of any man.
More disturbingly, though, I shudder at the thoughts of men equating love with violence. Duct tape, guns and love letters? Who the hell brings that on a date? This could be just a random case of a crazy fuck obsessing over a conventionally beautiful young woman, or perhaps it's a reflection of how society has taught bedroom furniture men that misogyny and violence against women are all a part of love.
