Freaky/cool music video

Sia's 'Buttons' music video features her face contorted by a variety of methods, such as tape, clothes pegs and stockings. At the end she shows her real face. I thought this was a remarkable video, completely breaking conventional images of women in music videos and making fun of methods used to force the appearance into something else.

I adore that video. Sia is my hero for not giving a damn about trying to look hot, and just doing what she wants to. My eyes glaze with insta-boredom/irritation at the usual mundane videos where it's all about making sure that the women not only do not look like their actual selves, with ridiculously washing-out lighting, airbrushing, and makeup applied with a trowel, but that we all understand every second of the way that the bottom line for the woman in the video is being as fuckable as possible...not interesting, creative, quirky, artistic, or funny...just fuckable. One-trick-pony one-dimensional bullhockey. GO Sia.

I liked this video because it gives a very human look at sex work. I was a bit disturbed that the spin was not that there is an emerging sex industry, but that there are MALE sex workers. How shocking! The last line was quite disturbing. I think the journalist missed the story by bedroom furniture not asking what he meant by "I have no choice but to do it."

LOVE IT!

I stumbled accross this earlier from my current fav Katie Mariah freaky indeed!
