Sexism in Technology?

Why is this camera more expensive than all the others, just because it's pink?

Higher demand? The other colors didn't sell as well so they are trying to move them with a lower price?

Exactly. If you look they all started at the same price and some are just marked down more than others.

Pink is a very popular color for this kind of cute little electronic device. I remember years ago wanting a Nintendo DS and it was very hard to find a pink one because they were so popular.

I would buy a cute pink camera if I was in the market and could afford it ^^

hmm. I think you guys are right about the camera, but that doesn't explain why pink disposable razors are more expensive than blue ones...

I think toricore is onto something, but maybe could have found a better example.

Are they really? I never noticed that. Do the pink ones have an extra moisturizing strip or something?

yeah. I've noticed that women's razors are significantly more expensive than men's razors, even though they're exactly the same in every respect (number of blades, features like moisturizing strips, etc) except packaging. The color pink seems to come with a hefty surcharge.

I have that one in blue. All of them have gotten cheaper since I bought it :-/

Anyway, yeah, its just supply and demand in this case.

That's funny. My parents just bought a pink camera, because it was cheaper than all the others, or it was the only thing left or something. Now they have this funny pink camera.

I have a better example:

Swimming goggles and workout gloves. I was in Moddell's a while back shopping for goggles. I found two pairs that were the exact same style, except one was for women and the other for men. I took both out of the box, tried them on (looks super cool in a store) and all that. The only difference I could find between the two was that one pair was pink and the other was black. Actually, that's not true. There was one other difference - the pink was were $14.99 and the black ones were $12.99. Original prices.

Similar experience with weightlifting gloves. Except there was one other difference, which was the sizing - women's S, M and L are different than men's S, M and L. The conundrum here is that the women's are smaller and thus use less fabric and should be cheaper to produce than men's, yet again they cost more. And yes, they were pink instead of black.

So I got my manly goggles and a pair of men's S gloves. Suck it Speedo. And whoever made the gloves I bought.

Oops, the pink ones were...

It's fine to comment that she has good biceps, but I think it's stupid to say she'll inspire women to do it too. Women are already "inspired" enough to work out, for bad reasons and good reasons. I will say that reducing her *fitness level* to having good biceps is bad. This is what is annoying- too many women work out to look a certain way rather than to be strong. I'm sorry but standing infront of the mirror lifting light weights bedroom furniture to get "Michelle Obama biceps" before your wedding doesn't make you fit. This is what bothers me about the comment.
