Great article about the Rihanna/Chris Brown situation
Newsweek ran a great article debunking the myths regarding domestic assault, based on the Rihanna/Chris Brown case. I looked to make sure that no one posted about it yet, but if I missed something, my apologies for the double posting.
You can read it here.
PS-don't read the comments unless you want your blood to boil.

Thanks for the link. I read it and it was very well written. And like you I read the comments (some of them at least) and I was furioius. But it goes to show you how people just don't understand. I just had a discussion with my uncle and he couldn't understand how anyone would stay with someone who hit them. I told him he obviously had never been in that situation, because he didn't understand. I have been in that situation and I still don't completley understand. But he was pissing me off by saying the woman should just leave. I was trying to tell him it wasn't that simple. He also told me that a girl is asking for trouble if she dresses sluty. I tried explaining stuff to him, but he didnt get it. It is so frustrating. But he also does not think that gays should be in the military, because they are too feminine. And that there are no gays in sports like football, because gays are too feminine. Sorry I was digressing, but I needed to vent.... Thanks for the post again!
As a society we should be holding 100% responsible the individuals that chose to resort to extreme violence as was clearly the case here. After the details have emerged from the police report (which is not open to speculation unlike all of the other rumors and here-say that people are using to base their judgment of Rihanna) it's clear that Brown has indeed gone above and beyond acceptable behavior.
How anyone could stand for equality and then turn around and imply that Rihanna stupid or to say that they've lost respect for her is totally beyond me. Folks don't even know her.
And I'm equally disgusted by all of the vague comments and "Chris Brown apologetism" circling mainstream celebrities and fans, i.e, the hushing up of Usher's comments, Kanye, Angie Stone, Terrence Howard.
