I know allot of Canadian women read Feministing, and would have put this on calendar but there's no Canadian citites there, so here we go, an action following up on the Oan Canadian Rebelles conference from last October 2008. Women-only feminist gathering at 5PM at the Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre (1420 Sainte-Catherine West)

PLEASE DISTRIBUTE WIDELY THIS IS A CALL TO ALL FEMINISTS
The Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre is taking advantage of
International Women's Day to hold a cocktail to "celebrate the Canadian
women from the 21st century" (sic). Last October, more than 500 young
women from the 21st century gathered in Montréal to build and
consolidate feminist solidarities in front of the rise of the Right and
against patriarchy across Canada. Rampant militarism, the war of
occupation in Afghanistan, the tacit support of Canada in the actions
of Israel against the Palestinian people and the growing space for
defense and war in the public speeches, the public space, budgets and
governmental actions are major consequences from the rise of the Right
and illustrations of the surrounding patriarchy. All armed conflicts
increase the level of hate and violence in our society, where women are
the first victims of sexual and domestic violence.
DOWN WITH COLONIALISM REBELLES AGAINST CAPITALISM RISE AGAINST PATRIARCHY
Feminists, you are invited to :
DENOUNCE the recuperation of women's rights by the Canadian Forces who pretends to free women by bombing the Afghan people.
RESPOND to all forms of violence against women which militarism is responsible for.
PROTEST all forms of oppressions, power and privileges that patriarchy tries to impose.
MAKE KNOWN our Manifesto from the Pan-Canadian Young Feminist Gathering (available at www.rebelles.org).
DEFEND AND PROMOTE security, respect, justice, freedom, equality and solidarity.

I wanted to address this since this cropped up as an edit to the page recently. Feministing is avaliable to everyone and is read widely by young & old, women & men, and liberal & conservative. However, the target audience of Feministing is young progressive women. There are some posts about other groups of people, and different voices are welcome, but that is the target bedroom furniture audience. Thanks!
