The enthusiasm for the "Wild Kingdom" analogy is a sign of how strange and hysterically funny the idea of energetic female sexual desire is....How sad and backward that we have to give it a nickname, animalize it as if it's outside the boundaries of civilized human behavior, make it a trend, pretend that Demi Moore invented it. That's not progress, and it's not a step forward for women.
I'll admit, I've thought about "bitch" "pussy" and "cunt," but I hadn't put a lot of thought into the implications of "cougar." Interesting article.

On the topic of felines, who can forget to mention "sex kitten." Mew!
That was actually a joke nickname in high school for me. I embraced it cause I was not "sex" by any means so that was funny, and I just *adore* kitty cats.
But we often animalize people when it comes to sex. Women are pussycats, sex kittens, cougars. Men are dogs or pigs. But then again, that's only if they are gross perverts who take advantage of women. Men are naturally sexual to an extent, sexual women are some version of a kitty cat. I like cats and all, but I'd rather just be "Anna." And I'm sure older women who date younger men would rather just be their names, too.
I Love being a Cougar! To me it's a great name
because it implys that a woman whose blossomed
as a full grown woman not only has intelligence
but she's finally got some experience & respect!
Younger men adore me & have always been after me
and I have always enjoyed their company & they are
