Hello everyone. I've been a long time reader of feministing but I've never taken the time to write a post, until now. This video is what I would call an inspiration. It made me so angry that I was inspired to create a community account just so I could share it with everyone.
I understand that there are more than a few ignorant people broadcasting for conservative media...but don't they have some obligation to report accurately. Which societies have ended "up in the garbage heap of history" as a result of embracing homosexuailty? Not only that, but what was once considered the "majority" in America is no longer. Heterosexual, white, protestant males represent about thirty percent of our population. This number of course changes when we speak about the amount of people against queer rights. I just wish people like Pat Robertson would stop pretending as though they are the end-all authority and a voice for "the majority of America." Conservatives are not the majority. Wake-up call...you don't speak for me, anyone I know personally, nor do you speak for most of America.
Please stop spreading your hatred...oh, and do some research you "journalist" you.

What he said was so awful, so ignorant, that I laughed. I work for one of the 3 LGBT organizations that were present at the signing of the mandate (which is a permanent decision that will remain after Obama leaves office, unless another president goes out of his way to overturn it) and I'm glad it happened, but the ignorance of this is laughably ridiculous.
Now that... that is the floundering of a very terrified man who has just realized that his hateful views no longer matter.
The religious right yahoos are running scared because their 'values' aka bigotry is no longer acceptable to young people. They know that they have lost the war. Young Americans overwhelmingly approve of gay marriage and gay rights. I'm confident that equality will prevail. It may take longer than I like, but Pat Robertson and his ilk are on the losing side of history. Comments like this are just desperate efforts to scare people.

That was so appallingly awful that it actually made me laugh a little. Any nation that embraces homosexuality ends up on the garbage heap of history?? That is the standard view of Western History, I suppose, that Ancient Greece's contributions to the world were equivalent to a 'garbage heap'.
I mean, seriously, what an absurd, ridiculous way of fear-mongering ... that someday in the distant future, our nation will no longer exist as we know it and it'll all be the faults of homosexuals?

This sort of thing is usually shorthand for "Ancient Greece and possibly Rome" (even though it didn't work that way)...
