This is so stupid. I have no words on how they think people can believe that shit.

Yea. That was a bunch of BS. There were a few comments below that claimed it was satire, and twice as many saying that ifit was satire, then it was poorly done. And I agree. Whatever this dude was reaching for, it's out of his grasp for sure.

something went wrong w my italics! sorry!

The comment section, on the other hand, is pretty cheering. Most readers seemed to regard it as awful (ie failed) satire or idiotic. Hoorah for intelligent readers.

oh lord...i'm glad even the askmen.com readers aren't stupid and can realize the author, really can't write satire. he sounds completely serious! so serious, in fact, i think he believes it! not to mention all the things he listed sounded like the men's problem and not the bosses

well this one middle aged man who is so right wing actually thought it was true and believed it and showed me. he always tries to find things to "prove" to me that women are less than men in any way he could. thats how i learned of that article.

My condolences. Your coworker is a tool.

I totally assumed that he's your coworker. I am missing some brain cells today. FTW!

The second I clicked your link and saw I was being directed to askmen.com I turned around. They never have anything of value to contribute to my life.

At my work we will have a new female boss soon and already I've heard several women talking about how awful it is going to be to have to work for a woman. sigh. They have set her up to fail.

How can you do your job when people have already decided that your vaginia disqualifies you from making good decisions?

Um...will I get banned for saying that you guys need to lighten up a little?

I mean, I see jokes being made at mens expense on TV sitcoms all the time, and it really doesn't bother me.

I mean, who cares? I know I'm not some bumbling idiot like the guy on the show, so why should I get all angry about it? It's just a TV show. It isn't real life.

So you would think this was funny if it was based on race or sexual orientation?

[0+] Author Profile Page BelevolentDictatorOfAndrogyny replied to Gopher :

Probably, if done right. The fact of the matter is, this article DID NOT do it right AT ALL. If this "satire" had done it's job, it would do what satire does. Satire goes the most extremist route and make anybody say, "who the hell would think like that", thus subliminally attacking the group of people who harbor fundamentally racist, sexist, and/or homophobic behaviours.

But this, on the other hand, is an article on a site called ask men, and harbors ideals that a stereotypical sexist male at a site called AskMen might have. I mean, the site seems to cater to that demographic to begin with.

[0+] Author Profile Page lauren automatic replied to astroboy :

Oooops... we seem to have forgotten about the systematic institutionalized sexism men have been historically fighting against every day of their lives. Oh wait...
THAT'S why it's different. I don't think jokes should really ever be made about one gender by the other, it's lazy and unfunny. But jokes being made about a group that has historically been and still is oppressed are different than jokes made about a group that historically has and still does hold the majority of the world's power.

Considering the comments there were, I find this most encouraging. AskMen.com is an extraordinarily misogynist web site, packed chauvinists and traditionalist scum, and yet even THEIR readers found this awful, and nearly all thought it was satire. This strongly indicates that there are very few people who believe this, even in anti-feminist circles.

[0+] Author Profile Page Gopher replied to Clay :

Maybe they thought it was satire only as a defense machanism to avoid admitting how misogyny is still very rampant and openly expressed within the male community? Perhaps also to avoid admitting what goes on in their heads that they'd never want to admit themselves. Its easy to denounce something as racist, sexist or homophobic but people still are subconsciously. I think its easy to simply say its 'satire' as an escape from admitting either how impotent you are to stop something that feels hard to control (peer pressure to conform to a misogynistic male construct) and the convenience of flicking it away after seeing something you'd prefer to deny.

Anyways why is it that this article is denounced but yet in other online publications this same article would get a hearty defense from the male posters?

Disgusting, really. I do honestly doubt this is any form of actual satire. Satire doesn't employ stereotypes, it twists and abuses them, makes them more extreme and ridiculous than they already are. This... this just happily runs amok with cliches which rival rudimentary fanfiction to outright attack women. What a load of manure...

It's refreshing to see the comments though, like this one:

"Women can't control their emotions? Please. Once men can control their emotions, there will be no more rape, no more domestic violence."

Now, I know that stereotyping one against the other doesn't help; but I must admit this is a great way of breaking down the "emotional woman" image by proving it's just as applicable to men.

It's from ask men, so it must be legit.
