Good news for choice?
Yesterday the AP reported on recent success using pills to perform medical abortions and that the method has been used in approximately a quarter of abortions nationwide.
It's more of an informative article than anything, but I thought it might be of interest to the Feministing community!

I had an abortion with the pills that you had to insert vaginally. Luckily I did not have any infections or anything like that but I must say the contractions that those pills caused left me in unbelievable pain. None of the pain meds they gave me worked. It was the most dreadful thing I've ever had to experience. The contractions were five minutes apart for about 9 hours. I couldn't even sleep.
Two years after that my best friend had an abortion with the pills you take orally and she had very little pain. So I'm glad they've refined that procedure.
I have had both types of abortion you described, plus a D&C. I had a lot more pain with the pills, but it was nice to be able to deal with it at home with the support of my partner. The D&C was less painful, but being at an abortion clinic all day is stressful, and they wouldn't let any friends/family/partners go back with you, I guess for privacy reasons. But it is nice to know that there are choices within the choice of abortion!

Right on!
