Dear Katy Perry,
You can NOT pretend to be an ally of the gay community just because "you kissed a girl and you liked it." That's awesome for you...however that doesn't give you gay street cred. Especially when you release vile filth like "You're So Gay."
Here's a small sample of your musical "genius"
I hope you hang yourself with your H&M scarf
While jacking off listening to mozart
You bitch and moan about LA
Wishing you were in the rain reading Hemingway
You don’t eat meat
And drive electrical cars
You’re so indie rock it’s almost an art
You need SPF 45 just to stay alive
(CHORUS)
You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like boys
You’re so sad maybe you should buy a happy meal
You’re so skinny you should really Super Size the deal
Secretly you’re so amused
That nobody understands you
I’m so mean cause I cannot get you outta your head
I’m so angry cause you’d rather MySpace instead
I can’t believe I fell in love with someone that wears more make up than...
No you don’t even like boys
You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like… PENIS!
Aren ' t y o u c h a r m i n g ? . . .
I f y o u ' r e g o i n g t o self indentify as a n a l l y , y o u s h o u l d p r o b a b l y t r y n o t c r e a t i n g m u s i c f i l l e d w i t h trite stereotypes. Catchy tunes don't make up for your lack of sensitivity or understanding of the implications of your lyrics. Have you forgotten, or just chosen to disregard the "That's so gay" campaign.
Oh that's right, you just chose to u s e i t o v e r a n d o v e r a n d o v e r a g a i n for a national audience . . . t h a n k s .

I agree with you; well said. However, why did you feel like spacing out the letters in the last few sentences? It seems unnecessary.
I don't have an opinion other than that KP is annoying. My token gay friend says the song is an "inside joke" with the community.
What community?
Also why do you refer to him as your "token" gay friend?
Because that's how he refers to himself. He's the only gay in our volunteer group. For that matter he's the only gay male I'm close to.
hmm... I didn't space out the lettering...weird. It must have gotten messed during submission.
Ew.
Why do people equivalent the male hipster image with being homosexual? I somewhat resemble the rather nasty stereotype she paints and I'm a lay-dayyy. Also, gay men don't fit one particular image! There are homosexuals who work in show biz, ones that work in offices, ones that drive trucks, ones that wait tables, that practice the law, that engineer solar panels etc. OMG! JUST LIKE ALL OTHER KINDS OF PEOPLE!
Boooo Ms. Perry. Booooooo.
As a member of the gay community, I refuse to forgive her horrendous crimes against lyricism and humanity in general based on the danceability of her music.
This was one of Out magazine's "People of the Year." She was on the COVER. Time and again, people continue to buy into this garbage because they refuse to hear the ignorant and hurtful message it contains.
Thus, Katy Perry sits smugly on top of a pile of money and learns no lesson whatsoever.
AGREED.
I thought the song was funny. KP on the whole is a bit annoying, though.
I admittedly have a pretty abrasive and offensive sense of humor when it comes to my own community.
I thought the song was just about femme, metrosexuals who people think are gay anyway and just how silly it is. This could also be the infamous "gay colored glasses" as has been discussed in many places.
She doesn't just make homophobic slurs, she also harasses people with mental illnesses: and her song about it - Hot N Cold - makes the target sound like a woman on the rag, and equates "bipolar" with "being girly" (in a nasty way, of course). So she's also a self-hating female. Like a lot of pop culture icons btw.
