The Homophobic Lyrics of Baju Banton

Baju Banton is being banned in many cities for their homophobic lyrics, but not yet in Columbus, OH.  Banton himself served ten years in prison for beating six gay men.  Banton's lyrics call for gay men to be killed with Uzis and to be burned to death.

What follows is ironic and sarcastic :

Some people here say that focusing on the mysoginy of black artists and black music is racist since there has been and there still is as much if more white mysoginist music .

So i feel that to be an acceptable little liberal i have to denounce the fact that you are focusing your denunciation on a black artist and that it is unfair and racist .

Furthermore we all know that it is so very trendy , hip and very progressive to have some " (un)feminist guilty plaesures "(http://www.feministing.com/archives/011210.html) and to enjoy violent mysoginist music and artists ( http://www.feministing.com/archives/006915.html) while calling yourself a feminist .
So why Baju Banton wouldn't be a acceptable unfeminist guilty pleasure ? Where do we , young trendy feminist , draw the line ?

ahhah

It's interesting how many folks are defending this as a free speech issue. But as a commenter on another blog put it, if he wants to perform that badly, he can pay for it, lol.

And apparently now enough folks spoke up that the concert has been canceled in Columbus. Can't say I'm losing any sleep over it.

Just a nitpick. It's Buju, not Baju.
