For my AP Studio Art project this month, I have to create artist trading cards on any current event of my choice. I have chosen feminism! For the project, I need to make 12 cards. My first states that it is myth that we no longer have a need for a women's rights movement. I want the other 11 to explain why I believe this to be true.
These are a few of my reasons:
-70,000 women die a year, internationally due to unsafe abortions.
- In the U.S. women typically make $.70 to a man's dollar in wages.
-1 out of every 6 American women has been a victim of attempted or completed rape. (that's from RAINN)
-ALL women everywhere deserve complete social, economic, reproductive, and political rights.
-Society's ideal of feminine beauty is disgustingly narrow.
-Women are strong, smart, and capable.
I'm obviously missing alot, but there's so many issues that call for feminism's attention. Any more to add or ones that shouldn't necessarily be in my 'elite' eleven?

Women's voices are so underestimated and valued that we are seen as "talking too much."
That should be "undervalued."
"Women are strong, smart, and capable"
is not a reason for feminism. The fact that it is not worldwide common knowledge or that so many women are perceived as "of the weaker sex" in the world is a reason to continue the movement.
I would add stats on abuse of women, both physical and mental/emotional.
Women are still expected to do the house chores, whether they work outside the home or not. Case in point, the conditioning that comes with commercials for all appliances and cleaning products.
An assertive woman in business is chastised for it and called a "bitch" or worse, whereas a man who is assertive is called a "leader" or better.
GLBT rights
We still have not had a female president in the U.S. The women who ran experienced a lot of sexism.
The G8 and the G20- all male.
The "boys club" in most industries is still excluding women from work.
Media industry:
Cinematographers union- 4% female
DGA (Directors, AD's 2nd AD's & PMs) 14% female
etc
No woman has ever won an Oscar for Directing.
In too many countries, women are forced into marriage.
In too many countries, men are allowed to rape their "wives".
In too many countries, women do not have a choice in who they choose to be sexually intimate with- it's legalized rape.
RIght now, there are men raping babies because they think it will cure their AIDS.
etc. etc. etc.
good luck with your project!
You are forgeting Angela Merkel.
- men still don't take sufficient responsibility for reproduction and its consequences
- after divorce, a woman's income usually falls and a man's income usually rises, even after child support payments
- more mothers than fathers put their careers on hold and pay the penalty in future opportunities and pension payment differences
- (echoing earlier response) according to verified statistical studies, women who express anger get fired. Men who do the same thing get promotions.
- according to one Canadian study, doctors take men seriously twice as often when they describe the same symptoms as women, order more tests and spend more time with the men.

The above have more accurate info than my original post btw
" after divorce, a woman's income usually falls and a man's income usually rises, even after child support payments"
aaargh, it's crazy making!
and to top it off, women tend to have more responsibilities with the children, if they had them.
the thing is
the #1 excuse for men being paid better originally was that men had "families to take care of". Well, nowadays, women take care of their families more often than men do.

I'm a little late on this, but how about the fact that about 100 million girls are missing from things like sex trafficking, gender-biased lack of medical care, honour killings and maternal mortality? There's a great book on this called Half the Sky that you should think about checking out - it's the best modern argument for feminism I've ever read, certainly.
