Coast Guard morale events for men not women.

Who would have thought that I’d be sitting here writing about Cheerleaders? I am not going to debate on rather or not cheerleading is a sport. I won’t even debate if fake boobs and mini skirt uniforms while cheering is good or bad for girls and women. What I am going to write about is the use of women wearing skimpy clothes for the “morale treatment” of men in the United States Armed Forces.

Last week, the United States Coast Guard, invited on board several members of the Miami Dolphin Cheerleaders to provide a morale booster to the crew and to promote safety on the waters. I am all for water safety and as a veteran myself I do care a whole lot about our troops.

When we say we want to support our troops. When we say we want a morale booster for our troops. Let do something that would benefit ALL of our troops and not just the heterosexual males.

I am sure some women do want to see other women wearing close to nothing cheering about boating safety. If that is your thing that is great, however, not all women do. The Coast Guard is forgetting about their little alleged claim that “women are equal.”

Bethanny, a Coast Guard veteran wrote on the Coast Guard Facebook page:

“This is sexist and discriminatory. If you want to view people as object where is the eye candy for the women? If you want equality where is the half naked men walking around for the pleasure of Coast Guard women? Enough is enough with the male privilege. You either do it for both genders or none at all.”

Even though Bethanny were quickly attacked by men in the Coast Guard that sure enjoyed having the Miami Dolphin Cheerleaders on post I must agree with her.

So Coast Guard, next time you want to invite half naked girls on post please include some half naked guys. Preferably with a set of nice abs and biceps. Maybe Tim Tebow. Perhaps while being in his boxers Tim can be filmed talking about water safety? Now that may boost the morale of some heterosexual women.

I mean you did after all claimed that the Coast Guard is equal for women, right? Coast Guard you wouldn’t have lied about that now did you? Coast Guard women want/need a morale booster as well.

Or maybe next time you have a morale event it should include not objectifying anyone regardless of gender. I can think of a billion and one morale events that does not discriminate against genders.
